(Ranchero on rotisserie at sandblaster, about 80%)
Also, somebody working nearby has a Rover Stage One. Really a coelacanth sighting in the US.

A hardy ancient creature that never really evolved efficiently? That describes most Rovers, eh?

Ball-parkishly, what’s a rotisserie restoration going for these days?

holy crap that needs like yoga balls amount of work.

So old school! By the way I am down in Skyland at the moment and saw a pristine dark grey R32. Didn’t expect to see one in NC.

No idea. I don’t have any shops doing resto work for me with a rotisserie, but the sandblasting guy has one... as you can see. Sorely needed here, of course.

If you’re going to insist on a coinage, I might as well toss you a crumb now and again.

Did you ever get your Miata looked at?

The floorboards are ready to drop in, but for the area in front of the rear axle and the body repair for the quarters, yeah - fucktons ahead.

that kinda work is so rewarding. going from rust to holes to brand new metal is a great feeling.

Is that Unistrut?

Yep. Outside-the-box thinking, I contend. It’s a semi-hardened channel of the cross-section and gauge I need, perforated for lightness/etc. and pre-galvanized with etchable/paintable yellow galv. Since the subframe connectors aren’t actual frame rails, just a booster, they should do perfectly fine.

That’s actually why I down in Skyland. New water pump and timing belt. And radiator flush. That’s the short version. Took 3 trips before they discovered it was the water pump that was leaking. My roommate recommended them, they were super friendly and reasonable.

2nd to last slayed me.

Heck, I should have recommended them. My dad eats breakfast with the son of one of the big cheeses of the place every week, and a guy I meet routinely eating at Wendy’s used to work there, it’s not like I don’t know they exist. They just tend to be not-on-my-radar for some reason.

Thanks! I think I may finally be doing rear fender repair on Saturday... :B
Restful/relaxy? Depends on the definition.

Ah close lol. Honest people here... That's always a plus

Just curious, why did you cut out the floorpan before media blasting it?
I’ve worked on a few older unibody cars, personally I would have reinforced where the floor pan used to be before chopping it all out. But if it stays square with unistrut, then that works I guess.

The floorpan was majority cut out already, and I needed to cut out the bellhousing area of the firewall to make room for moving the engine in. That left... basically nothing. It did flex a bit during the firewall repair/expansion, but utterly quit after I added the unistrut. The unistrut also would have had the floor somewhat in its way. Anyway, I’d already raised the thresholds, so the side rail strength of the body was excellent, I just needed the firewall to be stable.

Gotcha, unibody work can get tough sometimes.
Best wishes with the build, post your progress as time allows.

Hey, if it makes you happy, that's all that matters, right? Have fun!
